The Melbourne Branch of
the Australian Church Union (ACU)

was inaugurated in the 1920s.

ACU is committed to being a distinctive and progressive catholic presence within the Anglican Church of Australia, and particularly in the Diocese of Melbourne.

ACU organises seminars, lectures, liturgies, and publications. Recent topics have included:

  • Catholic Anglicanism and the Contemporary World

  • Between the Lines – Reading the Bible for our Time

  • A Tap on the Shoulder – The call to Ordained Ministry

  • Anglicans and the Media

  • Theological Education

  • The Role of Bishops

  • The Authority of Scripture

ACU fosters open discussion on challenging issues of faith, ministry and church order.

Disclaimer:
ACU invites preachers and lecturers from a wider circle of the Church to present on occasion. In doing so, it is hoped that such invitations will encourage prayer, thought and debate. ACU does not censor invited presenters or preachers; nor does it necessarily endorse or hold as policy material presented. All matters raised in papers or addresses on this website should, in the first instance, be addressed to the author concerned.
